Blind Ideas has a long history in the window furnishings industry, with the business established in Whangārei by Paul Whitehead in 2006. Today, that experience continues under Blind Ideas Northland Ltd, locally owned and operated from our Whangārei showroom and workshop.

Led by Sandra McQueen, Blind Ideas Northland provides a complete window treatment service for residential, commercial and public-sector clients throughout Northland. Sandra has been part of the Blind Ideas business since 2020 and brings extensive hands-on experience across client consultation, measuring, product selection, quoting, project coordination, manufacturing and installation management.

Roller blinds are at the heart of what we do.

We manufacture our roller blinds locally in our Whangārei workshop, giving us direct control over measuring, fabrication and quality while allowing us to provide practical, customised solutions and responsive local service.

We work with established New Zealand suppliers and local sewing specialists to provide solutions tailored to each project's functional, aesthetic and budget requirements.

Residential and commercial experience

Our work ranges from individual homes through to offices, schools, healthcare facilities and other operational commercial and public-sector environments.

Since 2020, we have provided ongoing window treatment assessment, repair, replacement and installation services within the Northland healthcare environment. This work, together with our wider commercial experience, has developed our understanding of projects where careful planning, reliable communication, safety, access requirements and minimal disruption to building users are particularly important.

Whether we're replacing a single blind or working through a staged commercial upgrade, we take the same practical approach: understand what the space needs, recommend the right solution, measure accurately, manufacture or source quality products, and make sure the finished window treatment performs as it should.

Personal service from start to finish

As a locally owned and operated business, our service is personal and hands-on.

Sandra remains directly involved throughout the process, providing clients with a consistent point of contact from the initial enquiry and onsite consultation through to quoting, manufacture, installation and after-sales support.

Installation is completed with the support of experienced self-employed installation contractors, allowing us to maintain a flexible and responsive service while retaining oversight of workmanship and the completed result.
